Tips for Beginning Internet Article Writers

If you have always wanted to write articles for the internet, but don’t know where to start, these tips should get you started.  Step-by-step tips always work best for me, so that is the method I am going to be using here.

Things to keep in mind before you begin writing are, if you are writing a keyword specific  article be sure and try to include your keyword 3 times minimum in your article, and be aware of your word count if that is a factor in getting your article published.  Just FYI, I use Microsoft Word to write my articles.

Begin by picking a subject.  My suggestion to you would be to pick a subject that you are familiar with.  The reason I suggest this is because there is much less research when you are using a subject you have some knowledge of, and usually your article will be much more interesting to read when you write about something you know.  Your knowledge of the subject shines through.

Now that you know what your subject is going to be, start out with an introductory statement about the topic.  I tend to use the if/but introduction.   Look back at the beginning sentence in this article and you will see how I incorporated that into the beginning statement.  Then write at least 2 sentences leading into your information.

Think of 3 to 4 things about that subject that you know about.  For example, if you picked planting a flower garden as your subject, then think of the steps it takes to plant a flower garden.  Make notes on a separate sheet of paper as you think of steps.  This allows you to choose what you think makes the best article information.  Once you have chosen which steps to include, make each step into a paragraph and explain some things about that step.   If you do something in a way that is unique to you when planting the flower garden, be sure to include that in your article.  Things like that are what will make your article stand out from the others.

After all the steps are completed, you will write your closing paragraph.  This paragraph is just a summary of the steps and any final information you may want to include that you didn’t include elsewhere.  Finish strong, by encouraging your readers to use these steps and how these steps will help them in their efforts.

Before submitting an article, always, always, always proofread and edit the article.  You don’t know how many articles I see out there that have misspelled words that could have easily been caught by proofreading and spellchecking.  Do proofread, because the spellchecker doesn’t know the difference between their and there and other similar words.

Okay, your article is as ready as it can be.  It’s time to submit.  My suggestion for beginning writers is to submit to “Associated Content.”  They are strong advocates of beginning writers.  If, for some reason they reject your article, they will tell you why and what to fix.  You can fix your article per their suggestions and resubmit.  The confidence you gain from getting that first article published is wonderful.  You can email your family and friends and let them all know you are a published writer.  You will have a link to your article, so just send them the link and let them see for themselves.

I think that covers everything a beginning writer needs to know to get that first article published.  It is just taking that first step and getting something out there, and then keeping at it.  If you follow these steps you will be a published author!
